Director of Monetization

We're looking for a Director of Monetization to join our team at Hypixel Studios, which collaborates remotely from around the world. Our members range from industry newcomers to experts with 25+ years of experience. Team members come from a diverse set of backgrounds, but share a common passion for building polished player-focused, community-powered games.

As the Director of Monetization, you will work with teams to develop products and experiences that grow player value, revenue, and joy across our Creator community. You'll work closely with designers to create industry-leading monetization systems and work closely with product owners to advise them on product strategy across our Marketplace and Progression teams. You will focus on market sizing, assessing impact, designing new features (and feature improvements), as well as developing content strategy. You will be directly responsible for driving key business decisions and establishing the processes required to support Hypixel, Creator, and Player needs.

• You are deeply familiar with the nuances of game development, game studio operations, and carefully evaluate the evolving business practices and economics of the industry.
• You are a skilled communicator, relationship builder, and negotiator. You use these powers for good and focus on getting to the best outcomes for players.
• You have owned challenging, critical business decisions and managed to effectively deliver both player and business value in balance.

Some of your role:

• You will lead efforts to shape the vision and strategy of Hytale’s Marketplace and Creator ecosystems - utilizing Data and Insights to drive our monetization strategies
• You will establish the business infrastructure and strong creator team partnerships needed to ensure we’re doing everything possible to support the evolving needs of the Hytale creator community.
• Partner with teams across Hytale to assure monetization strategies are aligned to our product vision and studio values.
• You will ensure Hytale is a safe, age-appropriate experience that offers a compelling mix of both first-party and creator-made gameplay.
• As a member of senior leadership you are accountable to key internal and external stakeholders and responsible for ensuring a high level of transparency and execution quality.

Essential Traits:

• Notable monetization experience in a senior business leadership capacity.
• An affinity for games and staying on top of the latest trends in the industry.
• Strong business acumen and effective data analysis skills, which you balance with empathy for players and creators.
• Values-driven and results-oriented. You are highly comfortable setting goals, identifying appropriate KPIs and measuring outcomes.
• Experience breaking down complex problems and problem spaces using various business or product frameworks and creating optimal solutions for our players and our business.

Bonus Traits:

• Deep familiarity with the tools, technology, and capabilities that are fundamental to crafting gameplay experiences.
• Experience in e-commerce, consulting, or strategy for consumer-facing products
• MBA or advanced degrees in Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Management Information Systems, a related discipline, or comparable work experiences
