XR Research Engineer
The Barcelona node of the European Media and Immersion Laboratory (EMIL) is building a new projective augmented reality device that will have applications across a broad range of industries, including culture, entertainment, education, training, tourism, and health. Its innovative software layer will allow developers to build compelling activities for this new medium.
We are looking for an inspired XR Research Engineer to help develop the software layer powering our novel augmented reality device. You will use your skills in Android and Unity development to architect, develop and deploy a robust platform for building augmented reality games and activities. You will work alongside a computer vision engineer who is developing the mapping and tracking modules to build a cohesive augmented reality system.
You'll work on-site in our media lab on the Pompeu Fabra campus in Barcelona, Spain, in an emerging tech hub neighbourhood that features great beaches, parks, cafes and restaurants. The project is funded as part of a European Research & Innovation grant (Horizon Europe), and is part of the newly formed European Media and Immersion Lab (EMIL). You will work with a small team of top engineers on an exciting new augmented reality product, and will have regular opportunities to collaborate and network with researchers and engineers from the other EMIL institutions, including Aalto University in Finland, the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in Germany, and the University of Bath in England.
