WEB DESIGNER / DEVELOPER
Schell Games is currently seeking a talented Web Designer / Developer. Team experience is essential, as is the ability to be self-directed and be able to prioritize your workload efficiently and collaborate closely with the marketing and game development teams.
Our ideal candidate will have the ability to handle both technical and aesthetic issues during web development as well as be able to work quickly in a team atmosphere with schedules and reliable milestone delivery.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Design new and maintain current overall architecture of all studio marketing websites
- Collaborate with the marketing and development teams to design and launch new features
- Construct websites by hand-coding, clean, organized, and structured HTML/XHTML, CSS and PHP
- Demonstrate deep knowledge of CMS platforms and build custom theme-based websites
- Maintain quality and ensure responsiveness of web and mobile applications
- Debug cross-browser issues and troubleshoot CMS themes/plugins, both independently and with QA team
- Deploy websites from staging server to live environment
- Provide support for ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting of existing websites
- Assist Marketing Team with HTML email development, integrating with other online platforms,
- including MailChimp and BambooHR
- Design and create landing pages for marketing campaigns
- Understand and implement security and data protection best practices
- Demonstrate strong project management skills, prioritizing own tasks with input on overall workload prioritization, meeting all project deadlines
- Manage vendors responsible for backend hosting of all websites
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- ~3 years of experience in a software development role, specifically in a cross-discipline, collaborative creative environment
- Highly experienced with front-end programming languages (Specifically HTML 5 and CSS)
- Project management software familiarity (Trello or JIRA preferred)
- Bug tracking software familiarity and experience documenting issues (JIRA preferred)
- Knowledge of code versioning tools (Perforce, SVN, or Git preferred)
- Experience with content management systems is required (Craft CMS experience preferred)
- Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new technologies
DESIRED SKILLS:
- BS/BA/BFA degree in computer science and/or web design is preferred but not required
- Experience with back-end programming languages (PHP, Python, Ruby, Java, .NET, JavaScript etc. is welcome but not required)
- Experience using advanced JavaScript libraries and frameworks (Such as, but not restricted to, AngularJS, React, or Vue.js)
- Experience with cloud message APIs and usage of push notifications
- Knowledge of game industry is welcome
- Experience using Adobe PhotoShop would be helpful
Portfolio of work is required with application for review demonstrating work examples.
