Blizzard has ambitious goals for the look of our cinematics and we are looking for someone who can lead, inspire, mentor, and support our art team in the process.
You are someone who can inspire and grow a balanced team of artists to create incredible visuals within a production environment. If the team isn’t hitting the quality or is behind schedule, you regroup with your production team and artists to strategize a way to get them to where they need to be.

As a key member of the creative leadership team, you are one of the champions of a positive and inclusive culture across the art team both for those in the office and those working from home. The artists and developers should feel as if they are part of one cohesive and collaborative team, regardless of where they work. Your role is key to that success.
The Visual Development Supervisor casts the long-term department vision and is the primary partner and advocate for artists within the department. You are a strong communicator who cultivates relationships and facilitates communication with department supervisors and broader Blizzard stakeholders (game teams, marketing, consumer products, etc..).
Responsibilities:
- Sets broad department priorities (i.e. long-term vision casting)
- Department level quality assurance
- Primary department connection to SFD senior leadership, game teams, marketing teams, etc.
- Manage and support the art ists to achieve both our project and individual growth goals.
- Mentor artists in the areas of artistic leadership and presentation and seek or create opportunities for continued growth in craft expertise
- Work with production management and outsource management teams to synchronize efforts and deliver art to quality, budget, and time targets
- Supervise the hiring of art ists by the dept. leads and art director s to build a balanced team.
- Steward the department hiring budget and hiring plans for all internal art development at the studio
- Help cast art ists to tasks, matching their current skills with what is needed on the project and with an eye towards growing and challenging existing talent
- Supports documentation of the art pipeline and ensures that we are efficiently onboarding art ists
- Liaison between production and artists; help clarify and set expectations to ensure artists receive timely feedback on work
- Providing creative project oversight for the sculpting team & facilitates communication with game teams & CPG
- Provides artistic oversight/direction for projects with no dedicated Art Director
