Job Purpose:
A key member of studio leadership, you will oversee all aspects of Marketing within Jagex.
Working with the Marketing Directors, their teams, and the marketing service groups that support them, you will create a Marketing team in Jagex that thrives and powers growth across a diverse and growing first party portfolio of live and to-be-launched games, including huge MMORPGs, innovative new cross-platform games, and a myriad of Jagex published third-party developed games.
Directly managing a core marketing central studio group covering Brand Marketing, Creative Services and Digital Marketing. Working with embedded Marketing Game Directors, you will help define an exciting marketing road-map and vision which complements each of the respective product plans.
Operating as the craft expert for marketing and branding, you will work with teams to form, and champion a data driven, player first culture. You will work with our publishing platform teams to advance our current marketing technology stack to build a scalable and measurable growth engine for our games.
Working with studio leads across Game Operations, Analytics and Product Management, you will ensure consistent processes are built across our titles, taking industry best practices, and making suitable to Jagex ensuring the studio is well set for its burgeoning future ambitions.
This role is ideal for a commercially astute, analytically minded marketing leader with a ‘growth hack’ mentality. This person is skilled at leveraging data, customer insights and technology to drive results. You are attuned to future trends in the digital marketing and gaming space and can speak with strong technical aptitude in your domain.
You will have a real passion for leading, mentoring and developing your people. You will proactively seek opportunities to elevate your team and highlight to the studio the epic work and value Marketing can deliver.
Key Duties Include:
- Guide and mentor embedded Marketing Directors who each represent their respective Jagex products, both live games and those in development.
- Develop strong, positive relationships with wider stakeholders including, Analytic Leads, Product Directors, and Executive Producers of our live games to help strengthen existing and future product plans and provide strategic player focused support/advice to each.
- Brand owner for RuneScape Franchise coordinating with Product Leaders on existing and future IP and Brand development.
- Serve as the craft expert in the ‘Art of Marketing;’ working with teams to build the correct environment, culture, and best practices for Marketing leaders to thrive.
- Develop a strategic vision for digital marketing (UA, CRM, Web etc.) to inform future development of current marketing technology services and platform, focused on driving player value and longevity.
- Ensure the company is achieving its live product business plans including acquisition, win-back, and revenue
- Providing strategic support/advice to Executive Producers and Product Directors to strengthen existing and future product plans and road-maps.
- Ensure player feedback, data, sentiment, and analytics inform our marketing strategies in a positive way
- Develop strong relationships across the Executive team, Senior Leadership Team, and key stakeholders to ensure marketing strategy, vision, budget, principle KPIs and goals are well understood and matched to our company strategy.
- Work with Publishing Platform & Data Analytics teams to establish robust models that provide predicted returns against marketing activities.
- Own the overall studio budget and the business strategy for marketing within Jagex
- Manage a central studio team of multi-disciplinary marketing leaders that support the product groups.
Essential Requirements:
- Significant experience within the online gaming space, building and running successful multi-faceted marketing teams at a senior level, ideally working with live/online games
- Proven experience of successfully launching several new gaming/consumer facing products that have subsequently grown and thrived.
- Strong experience and understanding of Digital Marketing space including development of marketing technology road-maps, and how to leverage existing and emerging marketing technology.
- Success in EU and NA markets.
- Considerable experience of building and developing teams. Equipped with strong proactive communications skills, motivational growth mindset and a structured approach to leadership.
- Extensive experience leading a cross-functional department (where parts of your org have been embedded within other parts of a studio previously).
- Experience with working within modern development methodologies (e.g., Agile)
- Good knowledge of the business models and monetization of online live-service games
- Experience with both quantitative and qualitative analysis methods
- Passion for games and desire to create fun and engaging online experiences
- Strong spoken and written communication skills
- Strong mathematical, statistical, and analytical skills
- Bachelor’s degree in an analytical field. Master’s degree preferred.
