SkyBox Labs is on the lookout for an experienced VFX Artist to join us in the early stages of development on a new original game project on a 3-month fixed-term contract, with a possibility for extension! Dive into the early phases of development, where you'll be a key collaborator in the creation process and play a pivotal role in crafting our next game. Collaborate closely with other artists and designers, pushing innovative changes within our VFX pipeline, and leave a lasting impact on the landscape of our latest project.

A snapshot of your role:
- Identify and fulfill VFX needs to deliver real-time rendering within a physically based environment
- Help drive the implementation of VFX into Unreal Engine 5, optimizing them for seamless real-time usage
- Craft gameplay effects, working hand-in-hand with game designers to emphasize the desired game behaviors
- Collaborate with other artists, designers, and the Art Director to create immersive environmental effects using a diverse toolkit
- Partner with development teams to define VFX tool requirements
- Utilize clear communication through regular updates and iterative processes, strengthening cross-team collaboration
Sound like you? This is what we're looking for:
- Minimum of 3 years of industry experience
- Professional VFX experience in AAA game development
- Proficiency in relevant VFX software, including Maya, Photoshop, 3Ds Max, and AfterEffects
- Hands-on experience in implementing VFX within Unreal Engine, with a strong understanding of real-time rendering techniques and optimization
- A strong portfolio showcasing relevant VFX art work in games is required
Nice-to-haves:
- At least one shipped title
- Experience working with Houdini

The base salary range is $79,000 - $118,000 CAD. The stated pay scale reflects the range that SkyBox Labs reasonably expects to pay for this position. Your base salary will be determined by various factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, skills, and experience.
