What You'll Do
The UI Programmer will need to apply their knowledge of C++, UI, gameplay, and console development and work with multiple departments, including but not limited to art, design, engineering, sound on Fortnite, Unreal Engine, and other upcoming game releases to build features that are highly impactful to users.
They will be responsible for writing and implementing robust, sustainable code that efficiently uses game engine processing power and is free of errors that will enable navigation and function of menu options in our video game titles.
The UI programmer may also be charged with porting graphic elements of the interface (the process by which software is changed or translated to run on different hardware types), documenting both the code and asset implementation details of features.
The UI programmer will be responsible for taking proposed feature designs and determining the best solutions to achieve them; and then execute, implement, debug, and test said solution.
In this role, you will
- Work closely with art and design leads to ensure that UI meets aesthetic and functional requirements;
- Attend to every detail, especially with regard to compliance, layout, and design;
- Architect, plan, and implement new UI systems;
- Optimize and fix bugs in existing UI systems;
- Contribute ideas toward all aspects of game production and development;
- Write robust, maintainable code;
- Work collaboratively with the team to ensure that UI meets aesthetic and functional requirements; and,
- Work closely with artists, designers, and other programmers on cutting-edge features that support player experiences across our games.
- Estimate the time it would take to develop UI features to support planning efforts
- Document code and asset implementation details of features and systems
What we’re looking for
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, and 1 year of prior experience in related occupations.
- Requires 1 year of experience in each of the following:
- feature proposals;
- post implementation documentation;
- memory constraints of game software;
- multiple console development;
- Unreal Engine development;
- C++

Washington Base Pay Range
$118,121 — $173,245 USD
