The development team at Striking Distance Studios is hard at work on its first game, The Callisto Protocol, a single player and story-driven survival horror game set in a prison colony on Jupiter’s moon Callisto. What we need:
We are looking for a Translator to provide translation and interpretation from English-Korean and Korean-English.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for simultaneous and consecutive interpretation between Korean and English in confidential business settings
- Render speaker’s words quickly, accurately, and cleanly during in-person and remote interpretation by taking notes and using memory appropriately
- Work collaboratively with a remote booth partner to provide seamless remote simultaneous interpretation
- Translate, between Korean and English, business emails, documents, presentations, etc. on topics including but not limited to game development, marketing, finance, and HR.
- Liaise between the internal teams and HQ to facilitate a smooth communication process
- Prioritize translation tasks by reviewing each project schedule thoroughly
- Assimilate new, technical concepts and terminology quickly
- Fluent speaker of both Korean and English in a professional business setting
- Master’s degree or equivalent in Interpretation or Translation
- 1-2 years of relevant work experience that involves simultaneous interpretation
- Be able to maintain confidentiality
- Be culturally sensitive and able to use the appropriate register based on the situation and audience
- Excellent memory and linguistic flexibility
- Flexible schedule to accommodate evening meetings with Korea; ie 6-8pm Pacific Time.
- International, C-level partnership experience
- Ability to stay calm under pressure
- Familiarity with software development processes, specifically video games/entertainment
