What we need: Do you have a keen eye for detail? Do you have a passion for storytelling and animation? We are looking for a sharp, patient, and detailed Animator with a passion for motion capture!
You will be primarily responsible for Mocap prep (set-up for solving) support and tool building. Additionally, according to your experience, you will contribute to improve our tools and pipelines.
You will also work closely with our Postproduction Managers, ensuring they have the Mocap data they need for delivery to clients. You will be collaborating with members of other teams here at Mocap (Stage, Production, Tech, etc.) to give you a well-rounded view of our pipeline and improve them.
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Learn how the 2K Mocap pipeline works
- Be able to work with any software package using the most efficient practices
- Work with the Mocap team to prototype new useful features/tools and process
- Ability to create high quality animation content in Shogun, Motion Builder and Maya
- Help support other animators (training and debugging)
- Working with the postproduction team on other pipeline tasks such as Processing Mocap Data, Solving, QA, Editing Facial Capture Video, Virtual Camera Animation, etc.
- Daily communication with the production manager and production team
- Submitting feedback on tools and pipeline bugs as well as proposals for new tool ideas
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

You are experienced with using Vicon Shogun, Motion Builder and creating tools. You are comfortable with Autodesk Maya and Motion Builder as well as video players like VLC and MPC.
You have a passion for improvement, effectiveness and building amazing tools and pipelines.
You stay focused and efficient in the face of mountains of data and tight turnaround times. Your detail-oriented personality, resourcefulness, and positive demeanor easily overcomes any tedium presented by repetitive tasks.
You take direction well, are receptive to critique, and can yourself provide insightful feedback. Appreciation for professional and constructive debate is vital.
Any additional skills, such as facial animation, motion capture cleaning and editing, and programming, we consider a definite plus.
Requirements:
- 5+ years industry experience
- Great experience in Solving and Motion Editing
- Excellent problem solver/ technical fire fighter
- Highly motivated and proactive
- A positive attitude toward challenges
- Good communicator at the technical level
- Education in the field of 3D Animation, Motion Capture, or Film
- Experienced with Vicon Shogun or other Motion Capture Software
- Proficient with Autodesk Maya and Motion Builder
- Deep knowledge of Mocap tools
- Knowledge of scripting/ code system: Python, Mel, C++, etc.
Bonus:
- Experience developing animation and Mocap tools is a plus
- Character rigging experience is a plus
- Knowledge of solving pipelines
