Test and Automation Engineer- UK based Hybrid/Flexible

We are looking for someone like you to become our all-new Test and Automation Engineer and join our passionate and talented Web team, where we are building on the years of success that Rebellion has enjoyed. The Web team at Rebellion is responsible for the development, updating and maintenance of all the public facing marketing and ecommerce websites of the company.

The Test and Automation Engineer role is dedicated to ensuring updates to our public facing web sites are error free and compatible with desktop and mobile devices. You will be able to apply a robust and thorough testing approach to our web products and services and be experienced in manual and automated testing.

Our web estate is currently mainly made up of PHP and WordPress sites, but we have started shifting our development focus to JavaScript.

As part of the Web team, you will play a key role in improving our websites, supporting our move to JavaScript and implementing new features that support the growth of the Rebellion Brand and its increasingly diverse range of products.

Key Outcomes:

• Increased automated and scripted test coverage of the Rebellion web estate
• Reduced time elapsed between coding completing and code being deployed
• Reduction in the testing backlog
• Increased quality of software deployments (reduction in the number of post release bugs and issues)
  

Responsibilities:

• Undertake test & automation activities on new projects and changes to existing web sites, apps and systems
• Manage test environments; create and manage test data; and manage test tools
• Create automated and manual test scripts
• Produce test and deployment strategies, and plans in compliance with project guidelines
• Provide defect and code quality metrics for projects
• Communicate effectively with team members and other stakeholders

Requirements

• 2+ years’ experience in a similar role
• Use of a software ticket management tool like Jira
• Experience in creating and implementing test plans and test coverage
• Familiar with functional and Non-functional testing
• Experience managing an automated testing framework/tool (e.g. Selenium, Playwright)
• Exposure to a JavaScript testing framework (e.g. Jest, Jasmine)
• Understanding of appropriate test approaches for web sites and web applications
• Experience of working in a development team building customer facing websites
• Intermediate Coding ability to support the creation and maintenance of automation frameworks
• Excellent written and verbal communication including good telephone & video conferencing manner
• Can manage time and work under pressure to tight deadlines at all levels
• Able to work on own initiative and within a team environment
