As Apex Legends continues to expand our live service gaming capabilities at Respawn, we are looking for a Technical Writer to join our Documentation Team.
You will work with top-level engineers, designers, and game producers to create information efficiencies for game producers, developers, and operations engineers building on the Apex Legends game systems.
Your documentation contribution will be part of a major transformation of the information support architecture at Respawn, and help internal game development teams to understand our ever-expanding Apex Legends game engine, backend systems, workflows, tools, and services.
As the team's priorities on a live service game change quickly, your flexibility in adjusting to various production needs, will be an important skill sought in this role.

What You'll do...
- Determine the clearest and most logical way to present information for greatest reader comprehension.
- Communicate and collaborate information with both programming and artistic Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to plan, develop, and produce high-quality, high-volume documentation products in a fast-paced environment.
- Work simultaneously on multiple projects as assigned, adaptively setting priorities to meet changing deadlines and scope-of-work definitions.
- Perform proofreading of general-audience, administrative, technical, and artistic instructions, and produces mechanical and substantive edits, correcting grammar, technical usage, content, and organizational problems to meet Respawn Documentation Standards and Style Guide Requirements.
- Create workflows, and other instructional imagery as needed, using Gliffy, Photoshop, and other application capture utilities.
- Record page inventories for vetting and archival procedures as assigned.
- Create and use templates and style guides to ensure product consistency and quality.
- Ensures projects adhere to schedules and deadlines.
You will have…
- Bachelor's Degree (Required)
- Degree Major/Minor in a relevant field, such as English, Literature, Communications, and/or Writing a definite plus.
- Technical Writing for web services and/or software products – 3+ years (Required)
- Confluence Expertise – (Required)
- Prior experience in Entertainment and/or Gaming Industry
- Experience working in Agile environment
- Adobe Photoshop expertise – 2+ years
- Jira experience – 1 year
- Prior experience in Entertainment and/or Gaming Industry
Extras Desired
- Experience authoring Confluence Macros
- Experience working with REST APIs
- Programming and/or scripting experience
- Experience with 3D VFX Software
- Experience with video editing
- Experience developing Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs) / Gliffy
- Jira Certification
- Experience in Training/Education
Additional Info
- 6-month Fully Remote Contract with an opportunity to convert to Full-time Permanent Staff thereafter.
