Technical Project Manager (Contract)

We are seeking a driven, ambitious, and energetic Technical Project Manager to lead various projects to enable, expand, and improve IT Infrastructure for the Sony PlayStation. These projects will span multiple teams, locations, milestones, and deliverables. The Technical Project Manager will work closely with Engineering Teams and IT Leadership to help plan and track projects from inception through deployment at a global scale. In addition to the traditional PM duties of scheduling, coordination, and financial management, the role requires extensive focus on communication management, customer empathy, and business relationship management.

Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for the overall direction and management of projects, ensuring adherence to department standard processes and procedures. Guide the project team, including external vendors, through the profiling and analysis of projects to identify and plan for services that must be provided.
- Deliver programs/projects which may last several years. These projects may involve highly complex interrelationships within the organization.
- Manage and cultivate the organization’s relationship with internal customers or other executive stakeholders. Understand the customer’s business objectives and assist them in achieving those goals.
- Work with other Project Managers in the Project Management Office through initiation, planning, monitoring, controlling and closing projects successfully.
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of demonstrated success as a Project Manager, showing a track record of delivering projects under budget and on schedule.
- Must have knowledge of industry best practices for project management, software engineering and business processes, such as: Project Management Institute methodology (PMI’s PMBOK), Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), or Information Technology Information Library (ITIL).
- Should have a strong background in software systems lifecycle management to communicate planning and operations issues to internal staff and represent Global Platform to external parties.
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills. Must have computer science knowledge adequate to understand and communicate interactions among complex computer systems in business terms. Ability to analyze business requirements and translate those into services or solutions and develop associated plans for delivery. Ability to express technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing, to diverse groups of people. Proficient in MS Visio, MS-Project or Project Server, Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
- Manage multiple tasks. Work independently and deliver a consistent high level of performance. Must be able to create and maintain project plans and budgets, and manage in concert with line management to deliver projects on time and on budget.
Desired qualifications:
- Formal Project Management Certification is highly desired but not required
- Experience in the gaming industry is strongly desired
