アニメ・映像制作者の立場から、Unityをアニメ・映像制作に活用するためのソリューション開発チームに参加し、ソリューションの開発、改善と導入支援を行う仕事です。
このポジションの方はアニメ・映像制作業務の幅広い知識と経験をもとに、顧客のプロジェクトの課題や要求を正しく理解して、リアルタイムソリューションであるUnityを活用した、アニメ・映像制作の効率の改善や問題解決方法をチームと共に構築できる能力が求められます。

業務内容
- Unityの開発するアニメ制作用のソリューション(以下、「プロダクト」といいます)を自ら使用して、日本式の3Dセルルックアニメの制作フローの開発に貢献します。
- 専門家の観点から、プロダクトの問題点や課題を発見し、その重要度を評価します。
- 開発チームとともに、プロダクトの改善方法を検討し、チームと共に実現します。
- プロダクトの問題点を理解したり改善するために、利用できる絵コンテやプリビズ、プロジェクト、ムービーをディレクションをしたり、作成したりします。
- プロダクト導入を希望するスタジオやアーティストのために必要な様々な資料やマニュアルを、他のスタッフと協力して作成します。
- 監督・演出/作画監督/撮影監督などさまざまな立場から、日本式のアニメ制作ワークフローとプロダクトとのギャップを発見します。その過程で、現場のスタッフのやりたいことを適確にプロダクトに反映したり、痛みを正しく理解して取り除く方法を開発チームと共に考えます。
- 現在のアニメ制作だけでなく、未来のアニメ制作のために活用できるツールとしての機能を他のスタッフとともに考え、開発チームとともにプロダクトのロードマップに貢献します。
必須経験・スキル
- CGアニメーション作品、あるいはデジタルアニメーション作品(ショートフィルムも含む)において監督、助監督(演出)、コンテマンもしくは作画・撮影監督等の経験がある。
- Maya, Max, Motionbuilder, Blender などの3Dツールを、何らかのアニメーション関連業務で使用したことがある経験。
- Unityで日本のアニメ制作工程を改善していきたいという意志。
- 流暢な日本語能力
- イベントやメディア等においてプレゼンテーションやセミナーを行った経験。
歓迎する経験・スキル
- 英語でのコミニュケーションに対して抵抗感がないこと(会社による語学力向上のための支援あり)
- アニメ製作工程に関する全体的な知識。特にアニメの撮影業務に関する知識・経験。Adobe FlashやAfter Effectsを使ったアニメーション作成経験。
- 実写映画、特撮、CM作成、VFXや特殊効果など、映像制作全般に関する興味と知識。
- アニメーションスタジオやCGスタジオでのインハウスツール開発に携わった経験。
- Unityの使用経験。
- 新しいものに対する興味。新しいものに挑戦し、新規分野を切り拓いていく意欲。
The Technical Director will work with and support the Solution Development Team in their efforts to develop, improve, and deliver solutions that will allow Unity to play a proactive role in the film and anime industry, from the perspective of a film and anime creator.
A qualified candidate will capitalize on their broad knowledge and experience in the film and anime industry to understand the issues and needs of clients’ projects and work with fellow team members to create solutions that solve problems and improve efficiency in the film and anime industry by taking advantage of Unity’s real-time capabilities.

Responsibilities
- Use Unity solutions (products) developed for anime production, and contribute to the development of a production workflow for creating Japanese anime-style 3D cel animation.
- Discover product issues from a specialist’s perspective and evaluate their priority level.
- Work with the development team to explore options for improving products, and deliver solutions.
- Direct and create storyboards, previz, projects, and movies that can be used to understand and improve product issues.
- Work with staff to create various documents and manuals for studios and artists interested in using our products.
- Discover gaps between the Japanese anime production workflow and our products from the perspective of directors, animation directors, and cinematographers. In doing so, work with the development team to consider options that understand and overcome barriers faced by production staff, and precisely reflect those solutions in our products.
- Work with staff to come up with features that not only work in the current anime industry, but can also be used in the future of the industry, and also work with the development team to create a product roadmap.
Requirements
- Experience in the production of CG or digital animation (including short films) as a director, assistant director, storyboard writer, animation director, or cinematographer.
- Experience using 3D tools such as Maya, Max, Motionbuilder, Blender, etc. in the animation production process.
- The drive to use Unity to improve the animation production process in Japan.
- Fluency in Japanese language
- Experience giving seminars and presentations at events or to the media.
Bonus points
- Comfortability communicating in English (the company also provides opportunities to improve language skills)
- General knowledge of the anime production process, especially knowledge and experience related to cinematography. Experience creating animation in Adobe Flash and After Effects.
- Interest in and knowledge of live action filming, commercial filming, SFX/VFX, and general film production.
- Experience developing in-house tools for animation or CG animation studios.
- Experience using Unity.
- Interest in new things and a willingness to challenge and explore new fields.
