Technical Delivery Manager, Defence

Your mission is to empower teams to support the delivery of multiple projects as they anticipate and mitigate risks, track and communicate timelines to the wider business and leadership, and continuously evolve their roadmap to align with the Platform strategy. You will establish processes and best practices to maintain outstanding operational excellence and allow internal and external customers to innovate freely on top of the platform.
Responsibilities of a Technical Delivery Manager at Improbable are broken into three key areas:

Area for impact
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies for internal and external project teams and drive projects to completion.
- Facilitate projects and programme initiatives towards company and division OKRs and goals.
- Challenge deliverables status, anticipate blockers, remove blockers and identify and engage with the right stakeholders to mitigate unexpected issues.
- Work with technical leads to understand and resolve weaknesses, single points of failures and bottlenecks.
- Facilitate cross-team communication, resolve ambiguity and gaps by becoming a central point of coordination to reduce administrative overhead and increase engineering efficiency.
- Support/assist other Technical Delivery Managers across the company to keep divisions and teams aligned against common goals and execution practices.
- Develop a strong understanding of the technical architecture of Improbable Defence Platform, sufficient to be able to collaborate and communicate
- Support and champion the adoption of Agile collaboration tooling
- Work with the delivery and technical leads to drive delivery of Technical roadmaps.
- Understand the long-term cost of trade-offs by balancing the risk and reward of delivering at pace.
- Build an agile and lean practice, capable of evangelizing a lean mindset with knowledge of a range of agile frameworks, methods and practices.
- Serve the team, to grow self-organizing and cross-functional teams, focused on high-value work, removing impediments to the development process
- Serve the Product Owners, to ensure goals, scope and product proposition/domain is widely understood.
We'd like to hear from you if you identify with the following:
- 2-6 years experience in delivery
- Demonstrable understanding of the Agile frameworks and Lean principles
- An ability to impart your experience, knowledge and guidance to help grow another in the same or similar knowledge domains.
- You are passionate and care about technologies and implementation details (e.g. distributed architectures, cloud infrastructure, test-driven development, simulation engines)
- Experience facilitating a continual planning process in a very complex and rapidly growing environment
- Proven experience on achieving goals and hitting deadlines, based on company-wide objectives, regardless of the obstacles
- Worked within Delivery community/practice/guild where the mission was to challenge and improve the processes to increase the effectiveness of a team or division
- Excellent communication skills, ability to listen with empathy and enabling people to act by increasing insight.
- Experience working with a range of stakeholders including partners, customers, suppliers and senior management
- Ability to communicate and work effectively in teams of technical and non-technical individuals.
- Expert Jira user with a solid understanding of its functions.
