We are looking for proven Technical Artists with a passion for game art processes and excited by the potential opportunities AI allows. The ideal candidates are intimately familiar with the many facets of game art production, 2D & 3D character pipelines, scripting pipeline tools, performance/optimization and are always learning more. Hands-on experience and insight in creating player avatar systems in both 2D and 3D makes you the perfect match. A great technical artist can quickly embrace our current toolchain, identify opportunities and enhance artist workflows, and critically analyze the latest AI technology innovations and assess their applicability to our craft.
This person will form part of our core tech art team, contributing important tools and technologies that enable our teams to produce the best games. Solving tough but rewarding challenges unique to our AI-forward games studio.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with our art team to prototype, develop and maintain 2D/3D customizable avatar systems powered by generative AI models
- Create tools, support workflows and assist with asset integration into our engine.
- Improve and support our existing art pipelines
- Be the bridge between art and engineering, understand both sides and be the connector.
- Analyze and optimize the performance characteristics of our games as it pertains to art
- Assess new AI technologies and determine potential use cases in a game artist pipeline.
- Provide guidance and development on on-going pipeline improvement efforts.
Requirements
- Strong artistic taste and an eye for quality with a high level of polish and execution.
- At least 5+ years of experience in the gaming industry.
- Experience with multiple shipped 2D/3D titles with technical character integrations.
- Proficiency with modern art content pipelines and game development tools
- Proficient in scripting pipelines using languages such as Python.
- Have experience creating 3D assets
- Initiative to solve problems with excellent follow-through.
- Passionate gamer across multiple platforms.
- Comfortable with supporting different disciplines across the art department
Pluses
- Experience building characters in both 2D & 3D.
- Working knowledge or experience using the Spine 2D software package.
- A broad set of game art skills (jack of all trades). Want to do it all. Can you jump on any task and see it through, to a high standard of execution?
- Have experience with VFX creation.
- Have experience with shader coding or node based shader editors.
- Have made your own games
