What You'll Do
Epic is looking for Tech Artists, ranging from mid level to experienced seniors, to join our team working on Lego Fortnite focused on World Building. A successful candidate should have a broad knowledge of art creation for games. They should be able to combine geometry, materials, effects and UE4 Blueprints to create complex art. They should be comfortable working with cutting edge and in-development tool sets that help push the technical boundaries of what is possible in our world.. We are looking for individuals who are organized, collaborative, motivated, and enthusiastic about working in a procedurally generated world. The ideal candidates are excited about procedural generation, and the organic exploration of procedural generation work flows, are super technical, and are able to both build new systems as well as work inside existing systems.
In this role, you will
- Primarily be working with Unreal’s new PCG Framework, and PCG related workflows to populate procedurally generated open world environments.
- Spend extra attention on organization and maintenance of large data sets as it relates to world building and world building assets.
- Work with gameplay developers, artists, and other team members to integrate concepts into rules that work inside our procedural world.
- Continuously explore and implement innovative strategies to keep the game fresh and exciting for players.
- Provide transparent communications on project status and risks to stakeholders to ensure they are properly informed of any impacts to upcoming tasks.
What we're looking for
- Must have a strong reel/portfolio showing executed game tech art
- Good understanding of Procedural Generation Principles
- Ability to pull many different asset types together to create art for a game
- Abilities in a secondary areas such as layout or environment art
- Desire and knowledge of how to push Unreal Engine further
- Desire to work with a team, supporting other content creators such as level designers, environment artists etc.
- Familiarity with the Unreal 5 Engine PCG Framework a plus
- Experience working on multiple platforms
- Scripting experience Blueprint or other
This role is open to multiple locations (including CA & NYC).
Pay Transparency Information
The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).
New York City Base Pay Range
$117,521 — $172,356 USD
California Base Pay Range
$129,273 — $189,600 USD
