Location: Irvine, CA or Remote
Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a motivated and experienced technical artist to join its powerhouse Overwatch world-building development team!
You will leverage your skills by providing support for the art production process, working closely with 3D artists and animators.
Your work will help shape our production pipeline and you’ll work collaboratively with other departments including game design, environment, animation, and VFX to deliver the next chapter of the Overwatch universe.

Responsibilities:
- This position is a technical artist with a dynamic specialism. This means the tasks, while varied, will relate mainly to make the world feel alive (kinematic vehicles/ ragdoll props/vegetation wind influence/destruction/interactive/cloth sim/environment shader or VFX).
- You will also be providing general support for the Art team, Design team and help set up pipelines and write tools to support them.
Requirements:
- The ideal person for the role will have professional experience in the game industry as a Technical Artist or Artist and an online portfolio showing relevant examples of your work. From a technical standpoint you will need experience using Maya with multiple content development experiences (can be modeling, rigging, texturing, lighting, animation, shader, or VFX).
- Knowledge of proprietary engine and related tools and a good understanding of Python tool and pipeline development will be called upon in this role.
- The role calls for someone who is adaptive to change and thrives in collaborative, iterative team environment.
Pluses:
- Understanding of developing pipelines and creating efficient user interfaces.
- Experience in other scripting and programming languages (Javascript, C++, etc.). Familiarity working and developing in a multi-platform, multi-project environment.
- Experience Rigging assets.
- Experience using Substance/Houdini.
- Experience writing shaders.
- Experience creating environment VFX.
