Job Description:
We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic Technical Artist Intern to contribute to our independent, community-based games. As a Technical Artist, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between art and technology, enhancing the visual and technical aspects of our game development. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with 1-2 years of experience or equivalent education to bring their artistic and technical skills to the forefront of game creation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Art and Technology Integration:
- Collaborate with artists and programmers to implement and optimize art assets within the game engine.
- Ensure seamless integration of 2D and 3D assets while maintaining visual quality and performance.
- Shader Development:
- Assist in the creation and optimization of shaders to achieve desired visual effects and rendering techniques.
- Collaborate with the art team to implement and refine shader-based materials.
- Optimization and Performance:
- Identify and address performance bottlenecks related to art assets and rendering.
- Optimize assets for different platforms and hardware configurations.
- Collaboration with Design Team:
- Work closely with game designers to understand and implement visual elements that align with the game's creative direction.
- Iterate on visual designs based on feedback from the design team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Game and Interactive Media Design, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent education).
- Or 1-2 years of experience in technical art or a related role within the video game industry.
- Proficiency in art and design software such as Maya, 3ds Max, Photoshop, etc.
- Basic understanding of scripting languages (e.g., Python) for automation tasks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
