Technical Artist II (Tools & Pipeline) - TFT

The mission of Technical Art at Riot is to establish and improve the systems, tools, rigs, assets, and workflows that unleash the creativity of our artists and allow the production of the best possible art content for our players.

As a Tools and Pipeline Technical Artist on Teamfight Tactics, you'll focus on defining and building the tools and tech used for development of new sets, personalization content and game modes. This will involve building pipelines for DCC (Digital Content Creation) software, working with engineering in the design of our in-house tools, and consulting with artists to discover the best possible solutions to the challenges we face. As live production continues on Teamfight Tactics you’ll need to be thoughtful in balancing how to quickly unblock our team while still maintaining sustainable workflows long term.

Responsibilities:

• Level up the end-to-end workflow for our many art disciplines, such as Character Art, Environment Art, Animation, Rigging and VFX
• Provide technical support to artists, collecting data to further improve the tools they are using and making recommendations and improvements where necessary
• Build close relationships with the artists and engineers you work alongside to better understand their needs and collaborate on tool and pipeline development.
• Be an active member of the Tech Art community within Riot, participate in craft-focused meetings and events

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years experience as a technical artist in games or related industries
• Expertise in industry standard content creation tools, such as Maya and Photoshop
• Fluency in modern scripting languages and related UI frameworks, such as Python & PyQt/PySide

Desired Qualifications

• Experience writing C++
• Experience with automation frameworks, such as Jenkins or Bamboo
• Experience in game development using modern engines, such as Unreal or Unity
