Rockstar Toronto is on the lookout for a talented Technical Animator who possesses a passion for improving workflows, tools and enhancing animation quality. This is a full-time permanent position based out of Rockstar’s unique game development studio in Oakville.
WHAT WE DO
- We interact closely with Animators and other Technical Artists to maintain and improve our proprietary animation tools.
- We create and support tools and plugins that improve our animation creation and editing workflows.
- We collaborate effectively with other team disciplines, predominantly Animation and Animation Programmers for runtime solutions.
- We bring innovation to technical problems and challenges throughout production - from content creation through to the game.
- We improve Character Art and Rigging pipelines, including investigations and improve facial rig and animation solving solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of applicable professional experience as a TA/TD/Tools programmer.
- Games industry experience is preferred, having shipped title(s) on any of the major console platforms.
- Python programming is a prerequisite for the role.
- Experience using Motionbuilder and/or Maya as a TA/TD.
- Knowledge of facial rigging is a definite plus.
- Relevant experience using 3ds Max in a technical art role is desirable.
- Designed and implemented efficient character/weapon/vehicle rigs.
- Character skinning and physics simulation setup.
SKILLS
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Effective time management skills to meet deadlines without sacrificing quality.
- Mentorship of animators to help improve their Motionbuilder skills.
DESIRED
- Experience in other scripting and programming languages (C++, C#, WPF, etc.).
- Practical success in applying machine learning / deep learning (ML/DL) to production scale problems.
