Tech Lead Engineer

The Engineering & Data team builds innovative tech products and platforms to support the impressive growth of their gaming and consumer apps which allow Voodoo to stay at the forefront of the mobile industry. The Engineering & Data team plays a key role in Voodoo’s long-term strategy. It enables Voodoo to both accelerate product diversification and provide a state of the art growth-engine to distribute and scale our games. They create innovative solutions that drive growth with a pragmatic approach, ranging from simple searching to complex machine learning systems.

Game Tech is focused on building shared tech for Voodoo’s studios so they can focus on what they do best: game development. After building a best-in-class Experimentation Platform and IAP validation service, we are now spearheading initiatives in LiveOps and User Segmentation for millions of players.

You will be managing a 7-person squad (max) working at a high pace, with full ownership over your scope - from infrastructure configuration to delivery.

Role

• Design & build business-focused full-stack applications in a cutting-edge and evolving environment
• Provide a state-of-the-art gaming platform to unlock our apps & games' full potential
• Participate in the business strategy and vision and consistently deliver innovative solutions to our business teams
• Demonstrate technical excellence, help define best practices, test and build the product everyone will desire
• Demonstrate ownership: capacity to be autonomous, and creative
• Architect robust, scalable solutions that handle the complexities of real-time game operations.
• Detect technical and product shortcomings in existing solutions and evangelise better alternatives
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and be the technical reference for Game Tech teams on technical roadmap planning and execution

Profile

• Extensive professional experience as a Backend Developer (not including internships)
• Extensive proven track record of successful product development such as web applications (mobile and/or desktop) that provide high value to end-users
• Excellent organizational and communication skills (you speak and write fluently English) and interest in management.
• Pragmatic, adaptable, and result-oriented with a problem-solving approach
• Ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment and deal with change
• At least one significant professional experience in the Gaming industry

Must have

• Strong experience in Object-Oriented Programming or functional language
• Strong experience dealing with web back-end complex topics, for example, optimizing for scale, building a brand new system from scratch, building a rule-based engine with complex business rules, handling complex integrations with 3rd parties
• Good knowledge of industry best practices

Nice to have

• Experience with product development (scaling and performance problematics)
• Experience with AWS: EC2, RDS, EB, SQS, Airflow, Lambda…
• DevOps experience, ideally good knowledge of CircleCI / Github / Terraform / ArgoCD / Docker / Kubernetes
