Systems Programmer [New Game IP]
Job Description
Challenge the status quo in game development by exploring what’s possible with Scalar (our cloud technology), reclaiming your curiosity, and building real-time world simulations for the future of games.
We’re looking for a Systems Programmer to join our Stockholm team and play a significant role in shaping, designing, and building an ultra-interactive and beautiful world on a brand New Game IP.
Games using Ubisoft Scalar can rely on a virtually unlimited amount of computing power, removing technical constraints, and enabling you as a Systems Programmer to focus on creativity and design for never-before-seen player experiences.
What You'll Do
- Designing, implementing, and managing real-time world systems (procedurally).
- Building tools for these systems to interface with our content pipelines.
- Collaborating with cross-functional specialists - i.e. render coders and visualization/art direction – to establish artistic expressions in relation to these systems.
- Developing in a multithreaded environment using modern techniques and ideas.
- Document your findings to share your knowledge on how to use the new systems and functions with the wider dev team.
Who You Are
You want to grow with us and make an impact, whether that’s further developing your craft skills or in a leadership position. You’re a trusted problem solver who delivers despite adversity. So when ‘stuff’ happens, you get to the root and work through it with optimism. But most importantly, you have a genuine interest in your craft and for the industry at large.
To contribute effectively in this role, we would love it if you...
- Are genuinely interested in simulations and procedural generation, and want to make ultra-interactive game worlds that look awesome too!
- Have professional experience with C++, including refactoring, optimization, debugging, and testing.
- Have experience with profiling and low-level optimizations.
- You’ve contributed to at least 1-game release, or have similar experiences that you can share with us.
- You’re happy expressing yourself in English and look forward to collaborating in an international and creative environment.
Additional Information
Making good games takes effort, making great games takes a different type of thinking and is the key to unlocking our collective potential. We also want to ensure our developers reflect our players, so even if you don’t tick all the boxes above but you have a willingness to learn, we're eager to hear how you can contribute
We’re a distributed workforce with a hybrid setup, and in 2023 our main hideout will be at Fenix Stockholm, a re-imagined modern office block in the inner city district of Hagastaden.
