Systems Engineering Manager - Test

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly technical Systems Engineering Manager who also possess exceptional soft skills. The individual will manage a small team of elite systems engineers to develop software test tools aimed at evaluating the performance of our product in the field throughout the product development lifecycle. This is a leadership role on the influential and intensely cross-functional Systems Engineering Test and Integration team. Systems is a diverse organization of hardware, software, and content engineers and designers. The team and this role touch every aspect of Magic Leap’s product. The Systems Engineering Manager reports to the Senior Manager of Systems Engineering.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a small team of highly-interdisciplinary systems engineers.
• The team is responsible for developing and executing system level insitu tests.
• Design, architect and lead the implementation of our software framework and test tools.
• Define, implement and communicate system level KPI to evaluate product performance.
• Design tests that measure insitu performance of our product and verify that technical requirements are met (at the system level, both hardware, and software).
• Team is responsible for creating dashboard and reporting product performance for all insitu testing across product generation.
• Team is responsible for defining and driving system-level telemetry architecture and data analysis.
• Design, architect and lead the implementation of a software framework to consume, process and store data acquired from various channels (insitu testing, telemetry, survey..)
• Drive and implement software best practices inside the Systems Engineering team.
• Ensure that the team is delivering production-grade quality code.

Qualifications:

• Experience with mixed reality devices
• Proven experience with software framework design
• Experience with test design
• Proven experience with Matlab, Python
• Proven experience with C, C++, C#
• Proven experience with data management and analysis
• Strong knowledge of modern project management technique (waterfall, agile, critical path…)
• Great communication (verbal and written) skills
• Ability to think critically and solve problems outside of core knowledge domain
• Experience with a modern game engine is a plus
• Experience with perception algorithm is a plus

Education:

• B.S in Computer Science (or equivalent engineering degree) plus 5 or more years of working experience or equivalent industry experience.
