IVS Video infrastructure team owns the operation of all Twitch/Amazon IVS global infrastructure. We support all Twitch/Amazon IVS data centers and all of the servers, storage and networking that ensure our customers have access to the innovation they rely on. You will join a diverse team of software and system, and network engineers. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS and Twitch to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.
About the Role
Twitch/Amazon IVS is building the future of interactive video. IVS Video infrastructure team is looking for an experienced Linux System Engineer to solve challenging technology problems, and build architecturally sound, high-quality components to enable Twitch/Amazon IVS to accomplish critical business strategies. You'll come up to speed on new engineering disciplines, making impactful decisions within that space, and have experience gluing together components written by more specialized engineers to create a cohesive, well-running engineering product.
This position will be located in Seattle, WA.
You Will:
- Design and implement high quality services and automated solutions to manage a fleet of BareMetal Linux hosts.
- Work in an Agile, startup-like development environment, where you are always working on the most important stuff.
- Use data to measure success and manage the quality of your service and, regardless of their source, aim to prevent faults from affecting our customers
- Contribute to technical project definition, scoping, and prioritization discussions.
- Contribute to documentation of processes and procedures.
- Participate in an on-call rotation with your team.
You Have:
- 4+ years of non-internship professional software/System development experience
- 3+ years of experience with network protocols, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, NTP, HTTP, Proxies and monitoring tools
- 2+ years of development/programming/scripting language (Python/Bash/Go) experience
- Good troubleshooting skills at all levels, from application to network to host
- Experience with Hardware, Baremetal management or data center environment
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
Bonus Points
- 6+ years of non-internship professional software/System development experience
- Solid Understanding of POST, BIOS, PXE, Kickstart, GRUB, RAID
- Hands-on experience with Squid, Infoblox, Nagios, and AWS CDK
- Knowledge of configuration management systems, such as: Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or related systems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from our lowest geographic market up to our highest geographic market.
