Senior Systems Designer

Cryptic Studios is searching for a Senior Systems Designer to work on Star Trek Online. With the support of our artists, designers, and programmers, you’ll devise challenging enemies, craft incredible items, and build the numerous features that make Star Trek Online exceptional!

**Every day you could:**

* Use Cryptic’s proprietary tools to make new enemies and new starships

* Brainstorm and build major events and boss battles alongside our content designers

* Grow our arsenal player skills, traits, and gear

* Curate the Star Trek Online player economy and balance rewards

* Design new elements for reputation, duty officer, admiralty, and numerous other core systems

* Act as a key design stakeholder for new features and retrofits to existing systems

**What we'd like to see:**

* Portfolio examples of features / systems, from shipped games or personal projects

* Proven ability in creating and implementing AI characters in an RPG

* Experience building classes and abilities for an RPG

* Balance math skills that can prove why a starship needs to be buffed (or nerfed)

* Understanding of how to build features that targets different audiences of different skillsets

* Firm grasp of MMO and free-to-play economies, both player-facing and developer-facing

* Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal

* Team-player with a strong desire to make a positive impact on our work culture

* 4+ years of experience in systems design with at least 1 shipped title

**Pluses **

* Prior shipped work in RPGs and MMORPGs

* Experience designing for online and co-operative games

* Design Degree, College Degree, or equivalent industry experience

* Familiarity with Cryptic's games

* Passion for the Star Trek and Sci-Fi universes

* Must be eligible to work in the United States.
