Sr. UI Artist

Insomniac Games is searching for its next Senior UI Artist, responsible for creating and maintaining the artistic vision for game UI. They’ll develop art content for user interfaces (UI), motion graphics and other in game needs. Sr. UI Artists mentor, tutor, and provide assistance to other artists to improve workflow and content pipeline. If this sound like the role you’ve been waiting for – read on!
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Collaborates with department lead, art director, lead artist and concept artist to maintain art direction for the game
- Creates Original and Bold graphics
- Develops and creates art work for products, with a focus on HUD, iconography, User Interface, Pause menus and motion graphics
- Animates/scripts events and animated comps in Animate with AS3
- Collaborates with Environment Art to create in game signage as needed
- Keeps the graphic line and consistent style of the general graphic concept
- Provides multiple versions of ideas via comps
- Provides animated comps when needed using After Effects
- Works closely with the Lead, Art, Creative Director and developer to understand and incorporate needs into UI, this includes speaking to feedback as well as being able to competently explain UI decisions
- Collaborates and supports other departments such marketing and environment when as needed
- Ability to conceptualize, present and execute ideas and concepts within a tight schedule
- Possesses a strong graphic design background
- Actively participate in technical and artistic concepts and problem solving
- Coordinates the work of vendors and freelancers as required
- Teaches, trains and interprets data and resolves routine issues
- Experiments with and/or evaluates techniques and/or art programs to improve efficiency, workflow, or pipeline contribution to game art
- Other duties may be assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities: Indirectly oversees the work of the artists for an assigned project and provides performance feedback to the UI/UX Lead for appropriate evaluation. May provide input to training methodologies and hiring. This position is not directly responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems but may be called upon for input and observations.
Education and/or Experience:Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Expertise in using Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, and Flash
- Experience with a 3D application
- Able to work on both a Mac and PC
- Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office Suite
