About the role
The Community Development team is looking for a Sr Manager of Operations to drive the systems, processes, playbooks, and strategies that enable the Community Development team to create and support new lanes between our development teams and external communities. This role will report directly to the Head of Community Development Operations.
- Define the vision for the Community Development Operations team, ensuring alignment with our company’s strategic direction
- Oversee the operations of the Community Development Operations team including the establishment of clear goals and outputs, resource planning and allocation, identification and maintenance of the tech stack, and creation and implementation processes and procedures
- Lead cross-functional teams composed of individuals from Community, Game Development, Publishing, Marketing, and Central Services to drive strategic business initiatives and community projects to completion
- Help build, lead, and nurture the growth of a team of project and program managers defining, documenting, and driving processes, playbooks, and strategies throughout the organization to support our internal development needs and external community needs
- Share learnings with the broader organization and contribute to our community strategy's overall development and involvement in the Fortis portfolio of games
What you'll achieve
- Become a key voice for all Operations personnel and ensure quality, consistent feedback about Fortis community culture, leadership, and general operations
- Help coordinate the day-to-day tactical operations efforts of the Community Development team that reinforce the company vision, mission, and values:
- Drive the creation and implementation of Operations efforts including the development of best-in-class processes, playbooks, and strategies designed to build, support, sustain, and grow our communities at each stage of the game development process and across all IPs
- Oversee all project management initiatives to drive strategic business initiatives and community projects to completion through the creation of shared timelines, goals, milestones, deadlines, and deliverables
- Create and maintain project and program management playbooks to establish and cultivate best practices across all of Fortis’ community initiatives
- Build, coach, and mentor a team of project and program managers that champion a culture of accountability and continuous improvement to inform and drive results across the entirety of the organization
- Coordinate with Community Leads to ensure the seamless integration of tactical operations initiatives for our external communities and internal Development and Data Intelligence teams
- Become an expert in effectively managing a complicated innovation organization
What you'll need to be successful
- A holistic view of organizational best practices around communication, transparency, and culture – particularly as they apply to community engagement and disciplines
- A willingness to experiment and craft new means of connecting with our external communities and fostering strong relationships
- Ability to communicate your processes to persuade senior leaders, community leads, and development leads of their value and efficacy
- Ability to articulate the nuances of various approaches to operations and the tradeoffs associated with different paths
- Ability to synthesize feedback from community teams and refine strategy and approach to ongoing development
- Enthusiasm for directing, mentoring, and otherwise elevating the people around you to do their best work
- A natural curiosity and eagerness to learn - we believe this is essential to our ability to stay ahead of the market and value this over years of experience
