Job Description
If you are looking to use your knowledge of data development to create data services in a renowned video game company, this is the job you have been looking for. In an established data science team, based in San Francisco and Montreal, you will get to influence how we work with data as you automate and optimize data services. This position is based in the Montreal office.
What you'll do
Build and grow a data development team
Reporting to the Director of Data Science, you will build and grow a new data development team that supports the NCSA data science teams. Right from the start, you will hire a senior data developer and a senior software developer. Two additional positions are expected during the first year.
Support the data science teams
Your team will support two data science. The first one, based in San Francisco, works on brand strategy and user acquisition. The second one, based in Montreal, works on player engagement in the Ubisoft ecosystem. The provided support consists of three parts:
Part 1 : Be the relay of the IT teams
You will be the point of contact for the IT teams. You will relay our needs in tools and data gathering. You will supply these needs by yourself when the IT team cannot.
Part 2 : Industrialize the scores and recommendations
One of the goal of this new team is to lean the process to create data services. The data science teams are building the prototypes. Your team will industrialize them: careful optimization, automation and scalability.
Part 3 : Transform into microservices
The end goal of your team is to make the scores and the recommendations we are producing available to every Ubisoft services: website, in game, email, media…. To do so, you will create the API delivering them.
Qualifications
What you bring
- PhD or MS in software engineering, computer science or related
- 7+ years of experiences as a software engineer, data engineer or data scientist
- Proficiency in Python or Spark
- Proficiency in container technologies and kubernetes
- Proficiency in SQL or HiveQL
- Knowledge of data visualization
- Knowledge of advanced analytics
- Strong interest in the gaming industry
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Speak and write English fluently
- Up to 10% of international travel (USA and France)
