Software Test Engineer, Sustained Engineering

Unity is looking for a Software Test Engineer for a growing Sustained Engineering (SE) team. This team is focused on the rapid turnaround of solutions to specific problems faced by customers so that they can ship their projects on time; this can range from providing tools and advice to customers, to processing and help fixing bugs across every aspect of the engine.
You are either a Test Engineer with experience with game engines/authoring software or Software Engineering professional looking for an opportunity to contribute to the world’s premiere game development engine.
This position is located in the Brighton office, UK and reports to the SE-QA Manager.
Responsibilities
- Support the SE team solving real user problems
- Work with customers to reproduce and isolate their bug reports in-house
- Verify fixes/changes/improvements to make sure they fit our user’s needs
- Execute and continuously improve upon our release testing strategy
- Collaborate work with engineers across Unity R&D to ensure efficient and wide reaching coverage of all areas of the Unity Editor
- Help us either to meet or raise our high bar for releasing our product updates worldwide
- Communicate with users on our community forum, providing assistance and advice
Requirements
- Must be able to work independently from overall directives given by your lead
- Professional experience with scripting and OO language(s) such as C#, Python and Javascript
- A good understanding of software engineering principles like anticipation of change, generality and consistency
- Must be a good communicator with a talent for presenting complex information in a way that is easy to understand
- Ability to focus and prioritize effortlessly and handle multiple different tasks
Bonus points
- Knowledge of, and preferably expertise in, one or more of the game development disciplines (e.g. level design, gfx, audio, animation etc.)
- Knowledge of how to work with game engines (Unity experience obviously a big plus)
- Good problem solving skills and detail-oriented approach
- Experience with mobile development/testing would be a big plus
- Must have a “make it happen” approach and be able to work in a fast moving environment
