Software Engineer, Storage Services – Hearthstone
Pull up a chair and join us! Blizzard Entertainment is seeking a talented and enthusiastic software engineer to join the Hearthstone team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for improving data storage and data service capabilities with the goal of providing the best possible experience for our players. You don’t need to play Hearthstone to apply for this role. Responsibilities:
- Be part of the team responsible for Hearthstone’s online service:
- Participate in the ongoing effort to improve our high-performance storage technologies.
- Help support existing relational storage services, including modeling of new entities and performance tuning
- Work closely with Server team to identify and develop new storage services.
- Diagnose and resolve data issues in the live production environment.
- Advocate Blizzard’s core values, especially “Gameplay First” and “Commit to Quality”.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, etc.) with some exposure to performance optimization.
- Experience developing services that interact with databases, preferably with C++
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- Experience delivering production-level code in a professional environment.
Pluses:
- Experience supporting a live service.
- Experience with data partitioning strategies
- Experience working with non-relational (NoSQL) databases
- Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related degree.
