Job Purpose:
Jagex is looking for a talented Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our Game Operations team. Design and implementation of test automation at all levels of testing bound to run in a CI/CD-Environment, ensuring quality of the Game-Engine and Clients for several platforms (Windows, MacOS, Linux, Android, iOS, and more), services and tools. Liaise with local and remote teams, sharing knowledge across the company.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design and implement test automation solutions for component integration and system integration testing, for different platforms (Windows, MacOS, Linux, Android, iOS, Game Consoles).
- Architect and write code to improve the quality of the automation toolchain.
- Incorporate text recognition, image recognition, and other new technologies to improve capabilities/usability of existing tools and frameworks.
- Consult with Technical Directors, develop guidelines and specifications for designing / implementing test automation solutions.
- Report of key performance metrics to assess impact/value.
- Work with other disciplines to understand customer requirements and update the team roadmap to reflect priorities.
- Mentor QA Engineers to effectively use the frameworks in writing test cases for games.
- Collaborate with local and remote teams to share knowledge across the organisation.
- Participate in stand-ups.
- Apply good engineering practices and agile methodologies in all development activities.
- Create test plans, defects, documentation, reports, and any other test artefacts required by the QE Manager.
Essential Skills:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Video Games Development, or equivalent.
- 3+ years of hands-on software development experience.
- Experience in a similar position or in Software Engineering with a passion for testing
- Experienced in software technology, programming languages and associated tools (e.g. Java, XML, C++)
- Experience in automation tooling - Junit, cppunit, GoogleTest, Appium, Selenium, Cucumber, Behave, or equivalent
- Proven ability to implement solutions in JAVA, C/C++ or any other 4G language.
- Applied knowledge of Python, Bash, PowerShell, Ruby, or other scripting language.
- Applied knowledge of testing: Acceptance, Integration, Unit Tests.
- Applied knowledge of working within a CI environment: Bamboo, Jenkins, TeamCity, etc.
- Knowledge of testing Restful Web-Services.
- Good oral and written communication and reporting skills.
Desirable Skills:
- ISTQB Foundation, ISEB Basics levels or similar is an advantage.
- Non-Functional Testing (Performance, Load, Stress) is a plus.
- Knowledge of testing Mobile Applications and Video Game Consoles is an advantage.
