Position summary

The Social Media and Community Specialist will primarily be responsible for creating and overseeing community communications and management, supporting the creation of content , and engaging the community on our various channels . This person must have a thorough understanding of how communities work, have the ability to increase engagement, communicate effectively and create a fun and welcoming space for players and followers while maintaining the brand voice.

Due to COVID-19, this position will be remote until conditions permit returning to the office in Eugene, OR. Necessary equipment will be provided to support a remote work environment.

Essential job functions

  • Generate digital content by curating, writing, editing, and designing new creative and compelling content for our social media, community , and web channels
  • E nsure that all content aligns with Pipeworks needs, goals and brand
  • Develop content calendars for platforms including, but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Reddit, YouTube, Forums, Discord, Twitch, etc .
  • Be the friendly voice of the studio to the community by engaging with PW’s audience through messages, comments, mentions and other forms of interaction all while upholding the PW brand
  • Respond to comments and player queries in a timely manner
  • Moderate discussions and comments following set community guidelines
  • Possess the ability to interpret social media insights data and create action points based on that data
  • Stay up to date with social media trends and best practices
  • Contribute to the organization by collaborating with other teams at Pipeworks and ensuring that their needs are met and there is consistency across all of PW’s digital assets
  • Contribute positively and effective ly to work relationships, such as responding to challenges, requests, participating in brainstorm and planning meetings, and seeing beyond individual tasks to help fulfill the goals of the studio
  • Proactively suggest new ways to grow and care for the community

Requirements

  • Passion for gaming and a broad knowledge of genres and platforms
  • Extensive experience with social networking sites, preferably for a gaming company, influencer or personal brand
  • Proficient in community platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Reddit, Twitch, etc.
  • Must have experience in MS Office /Google docs or similar platform , Adobe Creative Suite, and social scheduling platforms
  • Ability to think creatively about how to grow and nurture the community
  • A proactive attitude and the drive to continuously improve
  • Strong understanding of community management best practices.
  • Availability to start immediately is a plus

Education & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree , preferably in marketing, advertising, public relations , or related field
  • 2 years+ experience working in interactive entertainment, digital/social media, community/content management, and/or online gaming
