Who We Are:
Hangar 13 is the internal 2K development studio behind the award-winning Mafia III. Though we hail from all over the world, and our backgrounds are wildly different, one thing binds us all together – the belief that “Every Player’s Story is Unique.” We are comprised of a diverse group of people, from industry veterans with experience working on big franchises, to talented former indie entrepreneurs and recent graduates. Hangar 13 is based in four vibrant locations: Novato (California), Brighton (UK), and Brno & Prague (Czech Republic). We are currently hard at work on our next AAA titles.
What We Need:
Under the direction and guidance of the Sr. Social & Community Manager, be responsible for creating and executing strategic community initiatives and the regular cadence of social content to establish a strong social media presence and loyal engaged community following for top Gearbox and Hangar 13 partner titles. As the Social Media & Community Manager, you are a domain expert, positioned on the front lines, communicating directly with fans as the external voice of the brand, serving as an advocate for players internally, delivering regular reports about community sentiment, conversation, and concerns to relevant marketing and production stakeholders. As a digital platform expert, ensure social content is optimized for the channel and audience and as a dedicated gaming enthusiast, you are highly plugged into gaming and cultural trends, identifying opportunities to highlight the game’s relevance in pop culture.
What You Will Do:
- Coordinates with Brand, Comms, Performance Media, Art, Web, and other internal departments and external agencies to ensure that the global community of players stays engaged and informed of game announcements and activities
- Communicates directly with fans to build strong relationships and establishes a visible external presence on both brand and community social channels
- Defines community strategy, including methods of player acquisition, retention, and engagement from owned and earned social channels
- Establishes and advocates for social channel best practices including content strategy and platform usage
- Conceptualizes community-facing initiatives including social content series, strategic content partnerships, live events, contests and giveaways
- Maintains an ongoing calendar of community social content for owned social channels that is informed by a distribution strategy including paid media recommendations
- Develops creative briefs for social content and helps coordinate their way through the asset production and approval processes
- Monitors social discussion and sentiment to identify common themes and conversations
- Escalates and advocates community concerns internally, ensuring that company and development stakeholders are informed of player needs
- Compiles and distributes regular community-related metric reports ensuring upwards visibility, as well as helping inform what metrics are valuable
- Listens to gaming and social trends, identifying opportunities for reactive and proactive content that spotlights the game’s relevance in pop culture
Who We Think Will Be a Great Fit:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, English, or a related field
- Minimum of three years of social media management or community manager experience, preferably for a major consumer products brand or video game company
- Have created and executed a community-focused social media campaign
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a portfolio of published professional work; ideally in a variety of mediums including long-form and social media
- Experience building communities on, and practical knowledge of, all major social media platforms, particularly Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, and Twitch
- Proven ability to work both in a team setting, as well as independently drive campaign efforts as needed
- Experience using analytics to measure and track community sentiment, reach, and engagement over time
- Solid understanding of video games and the video game landscape; preferably with a knowledge of 2K’s franchises
