Senior Virtualization Engineer

Blizzard Entertainment’s global information systems team is looking for an experienced and talented Senior Virtualization Engineer to help in designing and supporting Blizzard’s global information systems infrastructure. The ideal candidate is skilled in collaborating with a global team, and leading technology discussions and decisions. This individual will primarily work on projects, serve as an escalation point for support teams when needed, and work directly with project managers and executive leadership to implement technology solutions for Blizzard.

This role requires substantial interaction with other Blizzard support and development teams, therefore strong communication and interpersonal skills are required as well as a desire for delivering great customer service.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and manage the infrastructure used to support our corporate environment and our development teams
• Implement complex projects and time-sensitive tasks under minimal supervision
• Ensure all global production environments and related systems and services are available 24x7
• Support, maintain, and upgrade production critical systems
• Solve tough and complex business problems, utilizing both repeatable and creative solutions
• Provide on call support as part of an on-call rotation
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Advanced understanding of VMware virtualization technologies in an enterprise environment
• Advanced understanding of VMware vRealize Suite, including experience working in vRealize Automation and vRealize Operations
• Advanced understanding of virtual desktop infrastructure such as VMware Horizon
• Strong understanding of security best practices, and both its theory and practical implementation
• Strong understanding of public cloud providers and services in AWS and GCP
• Familiarity with hardware platforms and hyperconverged infrastructure, including Cisco UCS and Dell EMC VxRail
• Familiarity with backup infrastructure and software solutions, such as Veeam
• Solid understanding of storage technologies and hardware vendors such as NetApp and Dell EMC
• Solid understanding of Windows, Linux, and Mac operating systems
• Highly motivated and self-driven, capable of working with little instruction to resolve demanding tasks, as well as work with internal teams
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience working in an enterprise environment

Pluses

• A degree in computer science or a related field
• Experience with automation systems, software, and technologies including but not limited to Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, and Jenkins
• Experience with monitoring tools
• A passion for video games
