Division overview:
The Creative Arts, Visual team is an award winning internal creative agency within PlayStation Studios. We endeavour to build a working environment where our people flourish and create their best work. Structured around five core fields; Brand Design, UI/UX, Motion Graphics, Film and Video we deliver projects in collaboration with our game development and marketing/PR teams.
Role Overview:
As a member of our versatile multi-discipline UI/UX team (based in wonderful Soho, London) you’ll be working with us to craft visually rich and engaging user experiences for a diverse range of different PlayStation games and applications. You will collaborate with both the internal brand and motion graphics teams and also work closely with our clients from across PlayStation Studios.
The UI/UX team have previously designed interfaces and experiences for games such as Dreams, Destruction AllStars, Erica, and the award winning Returnal. We predominantly work remotely but encourage office attendance at least once a week for team building and collaboration.
The successful candidate will be a multi-disciplined designer with a firm grasp of both visual communication and experiential design. A highly creative, imaginative problem solver who can chip in bold and exciting design solutions that push current boundaries without compromising the overall usability. They should be confident in presenting work to clients and self-motivated in developing a project from start to finish.
What you’ll be doing:
- Work closely with our UI/UX team to understand and define the needs of our clients and users
- Create strong cohesive visual designs across varying brands and artistic styles
- Explore solutions to UX problems whilst incorporating the feel and narrative of the game
- Use motion and interactive prototypes to bring our ideas to life.
- Present well considered concepts to our clients whilst handling stakeholder expectations
- Develop UI Style guides to help create and maintain a consistently strong visual language
- Mentor and develop skills in others
What we are looking for:
- An exceptional portfolio showcasing skills in UX and visual design
- Up to date understanding of best game UX practices and current visual trends
- Prior experience working with an agency or game studio creative team
- Ability to understand complex UX systems and provide multiple solutions to problems
- Excellent research, creative thinking and idea generation skills
- An appetite for learning new tools and practices.
- Phenomenal communication skills and ability to articulate ideas within a team environment
- Excellent eye for detail, layout, iconography and typography,
- Presenting ideas and engaging with clients
- High level of proficiency and organisational skills
- Excellent people and team-working skills.
Desirable
- Crossover skills in Motion Graphics and 3d software.
- Hands on knowledge of in-game editors such as Unreal or Unity
- Experience of live service games
- Briefing and leading creative teams and individuals
- Experience in conducting user tests and focus groups
