Your Mission
The Senior UI Motion Designer will work with a small team of UI Artists, UX Designers, UI Technical Designers, and Engineers to establish functional, original, and attractive interfaces for the game.
Responsibilities include generating original art content for the front-end UI and heads-up displays for a multitude of features in the game. All solutions should be intuitive, stylish, and consistent with style guides as established by our Studio Art Director and UX/UI Director.
Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Establish the motion design language and style guides for UI animations, heads-up displays, screen transitions and narrative elements
- Establish the visual language of the UI that includes iconography, typography, and visual hierarchy
- Help shape the UI design system to ensure that players can enjoy a consistent and immersive gaming experience while navigating the game's interface
- Create high-fidelity motion mockups demonstrating UI screen and HUD transitions
- Create high-fidelity UI screens and component mockups that align with UX/UI goals and accessibility standards
- Work closely with Engineers and UI Technical Designers to implement and ensure quality in-engine
- Work closely with Producers and Directors to estimate work and assist in prioritizing work
- Mentor and motivate junior UI Artists
Minimum Requirements:
- Hands-on experience developing motion graphics for film, HD console video games, and/or similar products
- A portfolio showcasing work samples demonstrating unique and original designs
- Minimum of 5+ years as a Motion Graphics Designer, UI Artist, or similar experience
- Expert Motion Graphics, UI, and Graphic Design background and understanding of User Interface development
- Expert experience creating Motion Graphics using Adobe After Effects
- Expert understanding of Graphic Design, typography, as well as layout, color, and iconography
- Experience in 3D modeling and rendering with Cinema 4D, 3D Max, and/or Maya
- Ability to work with specific Art Direction and established styles guides to create cohesive, on-brand visual designs
- Ability to work closely with the UX/UI Director to understand and incorporate needs into the UI
- Awareness of trends in hardware and operating systems, interface design, interactive design, and competitive software to help find opportunities for innovation
- Collaborative and inclusive attitude with the ability to listen, learn, and adapt to alternate views and approaches
- Strong communication skills and ability to present work and clearly articulate design decisions and inspire UX/UI team and other partners
- Knowledge of UI scripting languages such as using Lua, Flash/ActionScript (or similar)
- Passion for games and game development
