Job Description
Magic Leap is hiring a Technical Program Manager for our Enterprise Cloud Engineering organization. As a member of the Enterprise Cloud Team, you’ll be a key driver of the initiatives working to mature the agile processes and to drive team deliverables in support of Magic Leap's applications on its Cloud Platform. The ideal candidate will be an exceptionally strong communicator, both written and verbally, and possess 5+ years of experience in strategic program management.
Role and Responsibilities
- Lead effective project/program governance and stakeholder management, ensuring adequate understanding of timelines, resource needs, risks, contentions, and dependencies
- Manage multiple Engineering Teams using Scrum and Kanban best practices
- Partner with the Software Program & Product Management Office on the prioritization of Features and Planning
- Organize and lead planning activities resulting in the creation of a release/program road map
- Create and manage clear Gating Criteria with business partners for Go/No-go decisions
- Drive the resolution of team impediments and escalate risks as needed
- Identify and track dependencies
- Facilitate workshops for the engineering teams
- Be an lean-agile evangelist and engage in corporate Lean-Agile Best Practices forums
- Form strong cross-functional partnerships with product and development leadership to plan, manage, and achieve alignment across the product roadmap
- Ensure regular communication with adjacent programs and external stakeholders
- Lead program retrospectives and commitment to improvement on a regular cadence
- Create visualizations and presentations that convey key milestones and dependencies across Product and Development senior leadership
- Manage change - as changes to the portfolio are proposed, lead the impact analysis, considering short and long-term trade-offs, benefits and risks, then synthesize and communicate options to senior leadership to facilitate decision-making
- Track key milestones during product development and manage any schedule or scope risks by building and creating solid mitigation plans to ensure on-time delivery of committed deliverables
- Provide visibility, reporting and key metrics around key initiatives and products within their product line
Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant experience required working directly with engineering teams
- Agile delivery experience, preferably within a fast paced agile environment
- Experience working in an enterprise product environment that operates private and public cloud implementations
- Proven ability to develop effective, matrixed, cross-organization relationships, collaborating and communicating across business and technology stakeholders and multiple geographies
- Strong technical acumen and strong voice of the customer across the program delivery lifecycle
- Strong technical aptitude – ability to grasp technical concepts and understand the capabilities, impacts, and potential risks of implementing proposed technologies
- Storyboarding and workshop facilitation skills
- Excellent interpersonal, human relations, written, verbal and listening communication skills
- Strong negotiations skills; can influence all levels of the organization and is skilled at leading others to action on key initiatives
- Strong presentation skills
- Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills
Desired Skills
- Lean-Agile certification certified preferred (CSM, TKP, KMP, Agile Coach or similar)
- Familiarity with on prem and cloud infrastructure environments and tools
- Experience with Aha!, Asana, Jira, or Confluence
- Offshore management experience
Education
- BS or equivalent experience
