Senior Technical Producer

Ascendant Studios is hiring a Technical Producer to work with engineering directors and leads to scope, schedule, and run daily production for the engineering and technical art departments. Our ideal candidate will have either many years of experience producing engineering for games, or come from an engineering background themselves. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies is desired, as is familiarity with Unreal 4.
This is a full time position. We are all currently working remotely due to Covid-19, but once we return the position may either be based in our office in San Rafael, CA, or remain fully remote. Remote candidates must be able to work within the Pacific time zone.
What you'll do:
- Work with engineering leads and directors to create realistic schedules for both the project in its entirety as well as individual features
- Identify dependencies between engineering, tech art, and other departments, and work to make sure that their schedules align and blockers are resolved
- Run engineering centric meetings, including daily standups, feature reviews, scrum planning and retrospectives
- Communicate development status to stakeholders
- Identify, communicate, and solve roadblocks and bottlenecks, ideally preventing them before they occur
- Write detailed and thorough tasks for the engineering and tech art teams, ensuring that all dependencies and requirements are documented
- Assist in writing feature documentation, scoping features, and writing test plans
Who you are:
- 5+ years of experience as a engineer or technical producer in game or interactive software development, or some combination of equivalent experience
- At least one full development cycle on an AA or AAA game on current or last generation consoles, shepherding it through preproduction up to launch
- At least one title in a production capacity
- Excellent organization and communication skills in both written and verbal mediums
- Previous experience working in rapid development cycles and iterating based on feedback
- Knowledge of programming languages and engineering pipelines for game development, able to identify missing information in tickets and call out risks and technical considerations
- Experience working with distributed teams and co-dev partners
- Comfortable with Google suite or MS Office, project management software (Jira, TeamGantt) and version control (Perforce)
Bonus points:
- Prior work in Unreal Engine 4
- Shipped multiplayer titles or work on Live-Ops titles
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed in order to support a distributed team
