Senior Technical Artist

Uken has an opportunity for a Senior Technical Artist to join the team. This role will be the expert in art production processes and technologies in addition to creating functional, performant and awesome visual effects for our games. The Senior Technical Artist will guide and mentor junior artists in best practices and innovative solutions. Uken is a mobile game development studio that embraces product innovation as a strategy for success. In order to leverage our creative spirit we maintain a lean development strategy and sharp focus on delivering highly engaging experiences.
You'll be working on meaningful things like:
- Participating in the development of technology roadmaps for specific project needs
- Collaborating with team to identify and develop art production processes and technologies
- Providing reference and guidance to team for technical art solutions and best practices
- Creating stylized visual effects to bring our next generation of games to life
- Creating awesome 2D and UI animations
- Optimizing VFX effects to fit design and technical constraints
- Developing systems and tool-sets for artists and developers
- Assisting in the training and development of artists including mentoring
Your background should include:
- 5+ years experience in game development, including best practices and asset optimizations
- Proficiency with animations, particle systems and material setup
- Experience creating shaders and Unity UI
- Experience with Photoshop and ability to create assets for the visual effects
- Intermediate experience with C#, and good knowledge of art toolsets (3D, Maya..)
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Some experience mentoring junior artists
- Appetite to learn, grow, and take on increasingly more responsibility
- A portfolio of self-made games should be included for consideration

Note: Due to Covid-19, this role will begin as a work from home position and will move to 15 John St. when the office re-opens
