Job Description :
The Solutions Design Department at Magic Leap is seeking a Senior Technical Artist with a specialization in tooling and pipeline development for 3d content creation. Working in a highly collaborative environment, this role will work closely with artists, designers, prototypers and engineers. This role will also work with our Avatar group, helping to innovate and build on our communication, collaboration and co-presence capabilities. This candidate is forward-thinking, driven and willing to embrace the challenges of developing for Magic Leap’s spatial computing platform.
Qualifications :
- 5 or more years working in the video game, interactive or related industry.
- Shipped a game, app, experience, or equivalent 3d interactive software.
- Strong knowledge of DCC apps, including Maya.
- Expert knowledge of Unity with a focus on shading, lighting and rendering.
- Experience with C# and shader writing. This includes node-based systems like Amplify, Shader Graph.
- Experience with core 3D disciplines: modeling, texturing, rigging, animation, rendering, shading, lighting and fx.
- Fundamental grasp of real-time computer graphics principles including: Shading models, BRDFs, PBR rendering, deferred and forward rendering, asset optimization and debugging.
- Ability to work out of your comfort zone to do what has not been done before.
- Open and responsive to guidance and direction from both creative and technical leadership.
Responsibilities :
- Collaborate with Art, Design and production leadership to build and improve the content creation pipeline, create automation tools, art workflows, asset assembly and management to deliver the highest quality content on-time and on-budget.
- Support Designers, Artists and Engineers to help bring experiences to life in AR.
- Help establish, refine and improve best practices, including pipeline documentation.
- Work closely with the Avatar group to help advance both visual and technical features.
- Keep up with industry technical and artistic developments, inventing and applying tooling that will help in spatial computing.
- Profile, debug and solve graphical and performance challenges, including asset optimization.
- Be a positive, proactive communicator that seeks unique solutions to challenging problems.
Bonus :
- Experience with Python and C/C++.
- Experience with VR, AR or similar technologies, including UX, UI and visual design.
