Senior Technical Animator

Gasket Games is growing, and we are looking for a Senior Technical Animator to join our Art team. In this role, you will work with the Art Director and creative stakeholders to contribute to a AAA client project. You enjoy the creative iterative problem-solving process required to bring original concepts to life. You thrive in teams and would be described by your peers as a teammate who is always willing to go the extra mile in order to raise the bar.

In the future, you will also have the opportunity to define and collaborate on the development of original IP content.

This is a full-time, permanent position with our team.

What will you do?

  • Own and set the standards for performance and memory specs for characters, environments, and visual effects
  • Work with programmers, artists, and designers to establish metrics and workflows around performance management and asset validation to ensure that the game operates within established targets
  • Create and maintain tools to assist artists with their daily workflows
  • Perform in-depth reviews of major pieces of content at each stage of construction and provide feedback to the artists
  • Creating maintaining and expanding rigs for a variety of props, vehicles, characters, and other CG objects that need to be animated
  • Provide the first line of support for troubleshooting artist issues, and ensure that those which need escalation are effectively resolved
  • Help maintain shared scripting libraries and participate in code reviews

Must Have Qualifications

  • Professional experience with at least 2 shipped products as a Technical Animator in games, VFX, or feature animation studio
  • Solid understanding of game rendering and lighting
  • Previous experience with python and/or tools development
  • Strong understanding of 3D modeling, world-building, and node-based systems
  • Proficient with Unreal Engine development platform including proficiency with Blueprints
  • Able to communicate well with others via writing, remote meetings, or in person, taking the time to articulate your ideas and listen to other perspectives
  • Able to collaborate well with others on your team and across the organization generally
  • Earnestly strive to improve & hone your craft

Nice to Have Qualifications

  • Experience with animation or C++ (or C#)
  • Experience python and/or tools development
  • Experience with shader creation
  • Experience creating games on multiple platforms (PC, Console, etc.)
