We are seeking a Senior Technical Animator to join our internal technology team at Firesprite. This varied role encompasses a whole range of disciplines from toolchain, build systems, plugin, and pipeline development, as well as direct project support.

As a core team member, you will be responsible for delivering cutting edge tools and technologies to support the game teams at Firesprite. You will be working closely with multiple game projects to make sure the teams have the best tools with which to realise their creative vision.

While a permanent opportunity to join our team, we're open to full or part time applications for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Animation Directors, Technical Animation Director and Core Technology Team to create and maintain documentation standards and practices for tools, pipelines, and technical specifications
  • Identify and develop necessary art toolchains and documentation
  • Support the implementation of best-in-class character animation on projects
  • Create tools/scripts to aid animators with regards to exporting to game
  • Support the on project Animation teams with knowledge sharing and general technical support
  • Identify shortfalls in skills and support ongoing recruitment efforts to grow the Technical Animation team
  • Develop a positive and energetic team culture
  • Bring your own experience of best working practices to the team

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Technical Animator on at least one shipped PC or Console title
  • Proven experience producing high quality rigged and skinned, characters and props
  • Excellent knowledge of animation and the processes involved in creating animations
  • Strong Python development skills.
  • Good working knowledge of QT/PySide.
  • A strong knowledge of Maya
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding communication skills both written and verbal

Additional Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with Unreal AnimGraph workflow
  • Experience with Unreal Sequencer
  • Experience with Unreal material based procedural animation (via world position offset etc)
