Senior Systems Designer

Turtle Rock Studios is looking for a Senior Systems Designer to join the team and bring their expertise and experience to help create highly engaging and unique gameplay systems. Collaboration is key in this role and this person will be working closely with different departments to help build these systems from the ground up and follow it through all the way to implementation. Responsibilities
- Own and drive the design and implementation of core gameplay systems
- Economy systems (progression and rewards; gameplay ecosystems and loops)
- Systemically-driven content (e.g. rogue-like experiences) Using data and analytics to inform decision making
- Design and prototype unique gameplay systems with a focus on game feel, scalability, and player experience
- Be an information radiator: Collaborate effectively with fellow designers and other departments via clear communication, documentation, and proactive problem solving
- Work closely with Design leadership to refine and champion the game’s vision across the entire team
- Actively participate in playtests to evaluate and provide feedback on all systems and content, with a focus on the player experience
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in game development with one or more shipped titles on multiple platforms
- Love of games: specifically FPS, CO-OP, and Multiplayer games
- Ability to break down gameplay components and describe them clearly and concisely
- Expertise in providing feedback and parsing feedback into action
- Proficiency with scripting for gameplay systems
- Proven feature owner with the ability to bring a feature from concept to completion at a high level of quality
- Strong analytical skill set and the ability to communicate complex problems to all parties
- Solid math and problem solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a highly-collaborative, team-oriented environment
Preferences
- Proficiency in UE4 and Blueprint
- Previous experience working on FPS, co-ops, or rogue-like games
- Knowledge of game tool pipelines and processes (P4V, JIRA, Confluence, Excel)
- Strong production sensibilities; understanding of scope, ability to accurately estimate feature cost vs value
- Spreadsheet wizardry
