Accounting and Compliance Manager

The role will be responsible for executing a risk-based management framework to effectively identify and mitigate risks, measure and monitor effectiveness of internal controls across Gearbox West Holding Corporation and its subsidiaries, consolidating the financial statements and reporting to head quarter. This role will also perform analytical review of financial statements and technical research as needed, draft accounting memos for unusual and new significant transactions, manage ad hoc project such as new system implementation. The position reports directly to the Gearbox Publishing San Francisco Division Controller.

Annual Salary Range: $130,000 - $140,000

Responsibilities

• Perform consolidation at each month end at holding company level
• Lead month-end financial reporting to parent group and to corporate headquarters, including providing flux analysis
• Proactively communicate with department head/ employee for accounting matters
• Support controller with accounting memo draft and technical research
• Implement new accounting guidance
• Coordinate financial statement audit and internal audit
• Monitor, maintain and enhance the inventory of processes, risks, and controls (Risk and Control Matrix) and execute an ongoing review and reporting process on the effectiveness of the internal controls over financial reporting (ICOFR)
• Responsible to document process narratives, walkthroughs, and development of new control processes. Also, includes identification and remediating issues identified during the self-assessment and ongoing maintenance controls review process
• Perform testing of internal controls as required by Parent Company and local management policies
• Liaise with supervisor to evaluate key risks relating to ICOFR and develop appropriate Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure and monitor performance
• Complete ad hoc projects, such as implementation of new systems and tools

Requirements

• BS or MS in accounting or related majors, CPA preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, minimum 4 years big four financial audit experience required
• Experience of ICOFR including understanding of key processes, risks, and controls
• Excellent knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Strong analytical skills
• Meaningful knowledge of the risk management framework (COSO), including risk identification, risk appetite and strategy, risk-related decisions, processes and controls, risk analytics, governance, and issue management
• Knowledge and understanding of strategic elements of financial, operational, technical, and regulatory environment across the company
• Proactive, self-driven, and team player. Sense of urgency, passion for results and personal accountability for achievement
• Strong interpersonal, influencing, writing and communications skills with an ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders
