Senior Software Engineer Tools

The opportunity

As a senior software engineer (tools) on the light transport team, you will research, design, and implement lighting tools in Unity. We specialize in solving the challenges around efficient light-transport optimized for many platforms.

Our team focuses on building and maintaining robust lighting solutions such as global illumination systems and their integration into the Unity Editor. You will have a direct role in taking the Unity user experience to the next level, delivering lighting workflows that enable and encourage creators to achieve their creative goals. This is a permanent position which will provide the opportunity to grow as a key contributor to the lighting features and workflows of the Unity Engine and Editor.

What you’ll be doing

• Design, build and maintain new lighting systems with intuitive, user-friendly interfaces
• Improve the usability, performance, and testability of our existing systems
• Build automated tests for new or existing features and bug fixes
• Collaborate with a cross-discipline team to construct our lighting roadmap
• Engage with developers to champion high engineering standards and deliver production-quality code

What we’re looking for

• Experience developing artist-facing tools and workflows
• Experience in professional software development with proficiency in data structures, algorithms, and engineering principles
• Strong C# programming skills
• Solid understanding of graphics pipelines and rendering techniques

You might also have

• Experience working with the Unity engine or similar large multi-platform engines
• Experience with HLSL and low-level GPU APIs like D3D12, Vulkan and Cuda
• Proven C++ programming experience
