Immutable’s Game Studio's mission is to develop and launch world-changing games that use blockchain.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team, Game Integrations. Game Integrations is the team responsible for supporting Immutable Game Studio flagship games, Gods Unchained and Guild of Guardians, in adopting the innovative and cutting-edge web3 technologies that are built in-house or leveraged from the market. The team also partners with external Studios to support them in their journey of conquering the Web3 gaming space. Your mission is to deliver high-impact products and components necessary to facilitate an NFT and blockchain-driven video game.

This team will be across time zones and teams (both internal and external). You should be pragmatic in your engineering choices, and experienced in shipping scalable, high-quality products.

You will have the opportunity to:

• Assist in the technical direction of the team along with Senior leadership.
• Build and integrate web3 platforms, website NFT sales, programmatic token distribution tools, rewarding and payments systems and marketplace integrations.
• Work with a cross-functional team of designers, product lead, other engineers and artists to ensure the successful scoping and implementation of these products.
• Create backend APIs and integrations.
• Gain exposure working in a Web3 development environment, including regular workshops and learning opportunities for blockchain development (Solidity and Cairo )
• Work across a range of bleeding-edge technologies: Go, React, AWS, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Microservices, Event Oriented Systems, Terraform
• Be part of a collaborative team environment.
• Grow your own soft and hard skills within one of Australia’s fastest Crypto scale-ups.
• Help estimate and prioritise proposed features.
• Work in an experimental environment, learning from customer feedback and iterating on products
• Work closely with your team members to ensure operational excellence for the services your team owns
• Drive a culture of innovation to impact our engineering practices positively.

Technology stack:

• Frontend: React, Next.js
• Backend: Node.js (with Typescript), Go, microservices, databases (relational and NoSQL).
• Infrastructure: AWS, Github Actions, Terraform, Queue systems
• Blockchain experience in Ethers.js, web3.js or solidity experience is nice to have but not mandatory.
• Game Engine experience Unity/Unreal and c#/c++ would be a great addition but not required.

We would love you to have:

• 5+ years of deep engineering experience with exposure to a product development environment
• Extensive experience designing and releasing end-to-end applications solo and in teams
• Extensive experience developing websites
• Extensive experience with backend integrations and APIs
• Experience integrating with blockchain applications/protocols via Ethers.js or Web3.js
• Strong understanding and previous experience ensuring CLEAN / SOLID principles.
• Strong communication skills enable you to work closely with multi-disciplined teams and explain your technical decision-making.
• The ability to work comfortably across a range of technologies
• The ability to teach best practices to junior team members
• A passion for delivering fantastic products to our users
• Start-up and scale-up experience would be advantageous
• An interest or keenness to upskill in the Web3 space

Some extra skills that would be awesome:

• Experience in a start-up / scale-up.
• Gaming experience.
• Professional or hobbyist level Blockchain / Solidity experience

You will sit within the Studio Engineering team where you help to build out high visibility solutions to complex problems that will impact user experience and allow for incredible tools to be developed for your fellow Engineers and Game Developers to utilise. You will be a part of history as the team continues to disrupt and build out the ever-growing play-and-earn function of the gaming industry providing real digital ownership through NFTs on Ethereum giving control back to the players.
