Senior Software Engineer, Real-time Communication team
The RTC (Real-time Communication) team enables smooth, safe and civil communications across the Roblox Metaverse. The team manages real-time communications through all media including text, voice and video. As a distributed systems engineer, you will build scalable, fault-tolerant performant distributed systems to facilitate millions of interactions every day for a billion users.
You are passionate about building resilient systems specializing in fault tolerance and overload control for real-time communications at a massive scale. As a software engineer, you will build scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems to facilitate billions of daily interactions for a billion users.
You Are:
- Experienced, 5+ years industry experience designing and supporting large-scale systems in production
- Experienced building large-scale distributed fault tolerant services
- Experienced with low-level operating systems concepts including multi-threading, memory management, networking and storage, performance and scale
- A solid programmer with skills with compiled languages such as C#, Go, Java, C++, or others
- Well-versed in networking protocols (HTTP, Websockets)
- Data-driven focused on quality metrics and monitoring
- Experienced with a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent professional experience) in Computer Science or related engineering field with at least 5 years of hands-on experience
- Up-to-speed on all things: Continuous Integration isn't the only development practice in your wheelhouse; you also know the difference between Continuous Deployment and Continuous Delivery, and you understand the value of test automation.
You Will
- Build/lead scalable distributed systems that facilitate billions of interactions across all experiences
- Create, influence, and improve our development platform, infrastructure, standards, and methods to ensure we can achieve scalability and high availability.
- Develop and share best practices with our development teams to improve automation and efficiency.
- Work with a global team of engineering leaders who are building groundbreaking technology to provide user-generated content across multiple platforms.
- Develop and support CI/CD solutions to meet the high-level requirements of our team.
- Identify important problems and prevent them from reoccurring by root cause analysis and automation.
