The opportunity
Unity’s Ultra Simple Creation (Ultra) team is building out new creative tools that will inspire and enable entirely new markets of makers. Your role will be to help build a highly scalable, web and mobile-based collaborative design tool.
This role is especially pivotal as an ‘early startup employee’. You will work alongside your peers in engineering, product, and design, and will work with them to push the boundaries of what easy creation looks like. Your role is crucial to the team’s success, and you are expected to contribute to key decisions around what tech we use.
This team and product are extensions of Unity’s belief that the world is better with more creators in it. Specifically, Ultra is highly targeted at the massive number of everyday, common creative tasks that ordinary people have to do. We make it easier than ever to make beautiful, high quality creations.
This is a rare opportunity to join a 0-1 product team inside a well-established, successful company, helping to expand Unity’s tool suite to an entirely new class of users.
What you’ll be doing
- You will be working on a massively scalable web-first, cloud-based system from the ground up—specifically figuring out what we can do to push the bar.
- Design, build and operate scalable backend systems and services.
- Work with the engineering team to build innovative new features that operate at scale.
What we’re looking for
- BS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
- Proven track record of building large-scale complex distributed systems. A passion for diving into the nuts-and-bolts of how things work, and for building high-quality software / systems.
- Demonstrable working knowledge of highly scalable and fault tolerant client/server architecture.
- Experience building and maintaining server/back-end architecture for mobile or PC platforms.
- A habit of writing super-clean, encapsulated, testable, and well documented code.
- Experience with all phases of product development lifecycle, including requirements definition, specifications, development, test, product release, and sustaining engineering.
You might also have
- Agile approach: build, test, and measure; iterate quickly based on customer feedback.
- Experience in 3D, video, collaborative, mobile, or other tech that push the boundaries of what’s possible and delightful.
