Senior Software Engineer, Advanced XR Team

Unity Labs’ Advanced UX Team researches and develops experimental user-experiences, with a focus on augmented, mixed, and virtual reality. We push the boundaries of traditional UX concepts in XR, delivering innovative solutions to challenges that XR developers are meeting today, and will encounter in new forms tomorrow. What you’ll be doing

Your role will be to act in a senior capacity for all engineering-related tasks in our tight-knit research and development pipeline. You will assist the designers and design-engineers in developing & maintaining the foundation for the product and vision.

We'll be building, and rapidly iterating upon, ground-breaking experimental user-experiences across multiple platforms (desktop, AR/VR/MR HMD’s, and mobile devices). These exciting projects will move from prototype to production/release. You'll head efforts to refactor prototype architecture into a more robust and performant SDK, fit for external use, and scalability. The architecture we develop will both inspire, and ground the team's work in a proven technical foundation.

What we’re looking for

• Experience developing Unity-made projects from prototype-to-production
• Gameplay programming experience
• Unit testing experience
• Experience developing custom tools and inspectors for the Unity Editor
• Understanding of algebra/geometry/trigonometry/calculus, and how they're applied in game development

You might also have

• A grasp of AI/machine-learning’s role in development pipelines
• Networking experience
• A core understanding of how Unity handles draw calls, batching, and shaders
