The opportunity

Unity is growing to more than a game engine to help engineers, architects, managers, and creators around the world solve complex industrial problems. Unity’s realtime 3D rendering capabilities have made it the tool of choice for over 50% of the games created, and over 70% of the world’s content creation for VR and AR. Unity believes in putting the most powerful creative tools in the hands of millions of developers and artists to meet our fundamental principle of democratizing the development of 3D content. We are actively working with our industrial users to build sophisticated simulation tools that allow users to demonstrate sensors and automation to create realistic scenarios that would otherwise be complex and expensive to create in the real world. These simulations are enabling users of advanced technology to test software for robot development, to guide and train robot operators, and to try physical integrations ahead of implementation in the real world. Our goal is to make our customers successful by giving them the tools required to create synthetic environments that mimic their functional designs.

The newly formed Simulation Core team is a foundational group aspiring to provide high quality tools for creating Unity-based simulations. The team’s mission is to improve the Simulation Developer Experience by delivering key and innovative features as part of the Unity ecosystem continuously.
